It was through my own personal interest and deep appreciation for the NHS that I joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee in 2015 and I have been immensely proud to Chair the Trust since 2016. I continue to be hugely inspired by the strength of our people and our services. We really live by our values and continue to aspire and drive towards our vision to be ‘outstanding in all that we do and how we do it’. The Trust is rightly proud of our transformation over the last 5 years; this has resulted in achieving Outstanding with the CQC. What is also impressive is the commitment I see to continuing that improvement journey. I am regularly amazed at the energy, positivity and commitment our staff and our service users.

This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the Trust, with a relatively new executive team and as we work together to build on our solid platform and further develop our reputation as a collaborative partner in our local and regional health and care systems. We are a complex organisation providing mental health, social care, primary care and learning disability services across the West Midlands from both hospital and community settings, operating from around 30 sites and serving a population of approximately 464,000 people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. We have a strong national profile; recognised as the Provider of the Year in 2019 in the Leading Healthcare Awards. Our high quality services are also supported by robust financial management and we have achieved balance or surplus for the last 20 years.

This opportunity has arisen as the current post holder comes to the end of their final term with the Trust, hence we are looking to appoint a new Non Executive Director to the Board, who will also Chair our Audit Committee. You will have excellent governance skills and be able to provide independent and robust challenge and support to the Board. Alongside the key skills of a Non- Executive Director, you will also bring strong and independent financial acumen to the work of the committee, ensuring that it continues to be effective in its role and that internal control systems are in place and operating effectively. Above all you will share our values and the commitment to our staff and service users.
